A few answers to your questions, so you can arrive feeling settled and knowing.
Here is all of it.
If there's a question I missed, send me a note.
What actually happens in a session?
When you first come in, I'll ask you some questions to get a better understanding of where your nervous system might be sitting. Our body communicates to us through sensations and I'll be listening to what kind of sensations you generally notice in your body (tension, shortness of breath, tight belly, buzzing in ears, aches, numb fingers or toes).
I'll leave the room and you'll get undressed to your level of comfort and lay on the table. I have options for side-lying if face down isn't comfortable.
These sessions are slow and the pressure is lighter. I will check in about how the pressure is feeling and there can be more or less.
After the session, I intentionally schedule time for you to have an opportunity to integrate and ground. I have water and a custom Be Well Blend herbal tea that is served. And a chocolate, of course, because sometimes you need a treat to go.
How are these sessions different?
We work with your body, not against it, using a nervous-system-focused approach. Pressure is lighter and sessions are slower. I incorporate gentle rocking and still holds. I track your breath, the color of your skin, eye movement, and small twitches and tremors to notice how your nervous system is responding.
This is collaborative and you know your body best, so I check in about what I'm noticing and whether it resonates with you or not.
How will I feel after a session?
No two bodies or sessions alike. Some people have reported better sleep, a felt sense of peace, less jaw clicking and tension, feeling more expansion in their chest, deeper awareness for general dysregulation, fuller breaths.
In some instances, there can be a surfacing of memories or emotions that have space to be processed. Establishing anchors of support outside of sessions is important to feel grounded while these are processed and moved through.
How often should I come?
This work compounds. I often suggest new clients come every two to three weeks at the start, then we shift to about once a month as things settle.
The Tended membership is built for this rhythm.
Do you offer prenatal appointments and house calls?
Yes, I offer prenatal support and have a range of pillows and bolsters to customize the setup, as no two bodies are alike.
I don't currently offer house calls. For special circumstances I might make an exception within 20 miles of Cottonwood Heights.
Do you work with men?
My practice is exclusively built around working with women.
Are you LGBTQ welcoming?
Yes. I have supported bodies in transition and clients who are non-binary. Female physiology doesn't always mean female identity. This work meets your body where it's at.
What do you use on my skin, and in the room?
Regenerative, locally sourced tallow or jojoba oil. Nothing I use is scented with fragrance or essential oils. Linens and blankets are organic, washed in non toxic detergent, and stored away from pets.
This matters for anyone avoiding endocrine disruptors or synthetic fragrance, and it matters for skin that reacts. I'm happy to support clients going through topical steroid withdrawal (TSW), or living with eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea. If there are additional adjustments that would help and they're within my control, let me know and we'll make them.
Where are you located?
The office is in Cottonwood Heights. The exact address is given upon booking, for my safety as a solo practitioner.
Creekside Sessions are held up Big Cottonwood Canyon during the summer months.
Do you accept tips?
No. My prices reflect the full value of the work, so there is nothing to add at the end.
Can I buy a gift certificate?
You can. I offer digital gift certificates you can give to someone else or hold onto until you're ready.
What should I wear to a Creekside Session?
Wear clothes that are comfortable to change into, and bring a jacket or layers if your session is in the evening or early morning. Canyon temperatures fluctuate depending on the weather.
Is it private?
Privacy is provided by a large canvas tent with the mountains as the floor. You can hear the creek and the birds from inside. You can also opt to leave the flaps open if you'd like more access to the outside.
What if it rains?
You'll have the option to keep your session or cancel for a full refund. The canvas tent is waterproof, so if you decide to stay we'll be dry, and you'll get dreamy rain sounds with it.
If there's lightning, the session is automatically cancelled for your safety and mine.
